A bit of a side point coming up, hopefully interesting, or connected bit of info haha is that I read recently about this study on whales and how (as the only mammals apart from humans to experience the menopause) the findings showed that the reason whales experience menopause was to be alloparents!"ductive lifespan" (the years in which they breed), these females have more years to help their children and grandchildren, without increasing the "overlap" period when they compete with their daughters by breeding and raising calves at the same time."
